Laurette: 1881
University of Liverpool Online
An alternate look at online education
The University of Liverpool is the Russell Group university that has offered online education for the longest time. Their online degrees are provided by Laureate who wanted to create a campaign to highlight this.
Our idea was to go back to 1881, the year the University of Liverpool was founded, to imagine what online education would have looked like then. Through a steampunk lens, we looked at the benefits of online education, the functionality of it, and why in some respects it’s better than an on campus learning experience.
Once the client was signed up to our vision, we scripted the films, cast actors, and built all kinds of wacky Victoriana props.
When production was completed, the films were used in a campaign on The Guardian website, where it achieved the record for the highest views to completion of any ad campaign on the site.
